The Province of Iloilo now has a center for Overseas Filipinos (OF)!

Provincial Ordinance 2020-219 mandates the creation and institutionalization of the Iloilo Provincial Overseas Filipinos Migration and Development (OFMD) Center under the Public Employment Service Office (PESO).

The institutionalization further strengthens the provincial government’s role in the empowerment and welfare of OFs and their families through development and information on relevant programs and services, promotion of safe migration and reintegration, linkages to economic opportunities, referral to psycho-social services, and serving as repositories of migration and development data, tools and materials.

To ensure the implementation of the center mandate, a provincial committee was also created headed by the governor and composed of representatives of provincial offices, national government agencies, and migrant groups.

The one-stop help center will be managed by the Provincial PESO located at 5th floor of Iloilo Provincial Capitol.

The OFMD Center was championed by Third District Senior Board Member Rolando B. Distura who initiated its creation back in early 2020. (Jayrel Encontro)
